Genuine SADF issue 83 pattern ‘Battle Jacket’ vest in Nutria Brown

One of the first modern one piece designs. Developed and tested during years of offensive operations, this original version is highly sought after.

Seen in use by SAS troops in both Gulf wars, and very popular with the Parachute Regiment

This carries the combat essentials

4 Ammunition specific pouches, 2 magazines in each, will accommodate NATO 5.56mm magazines, AK47 or 74, SADF R4 Galil type magazines (30 rounds)

Please note AK magazines are a tight fit, two will fit but Velcro closure overlap will be minimal

2 FFD or AP grenade pouches

2 smoke grenade or additional single magazine pouches

Binocular pouch, ideal command or admin’ pouch; large enough for 2 x A6 40 leaf Nyrex folder

Internal document pocket

All of the above with simple Velcro flap closures

Slip pockets on the upper mag’ pouches for pen flares, these also accommodate Cyalumes or AA Mini Maglite

4 x lanyard anchor loops

2 large side pouches originally for the large SADF 2 litre water bottle, twin strap & buckle closures, port in lid

Built in narrow back pack, two compartment design with zip closures

Intended for radio or 2 litre bottle, with mess kit in lower compartment, equally useful for a hydration system, warm or wet kit clothing

Complete with 2 x correct utility straps on the back pouches

Various adjustable straps for additional items, such as mortar bombs and poncho

All pouches in ‘Nutria Brown’ Cordura type material fixed to a black mesh padded vest.

Massive size adjustment means this vest fits most users, even over Osprey armour as shown

Condition is used but sound, dusty in places, minimal signs of wear, some user marks in ink, inside the back pouch top flap, and on the flap of the top left ammunition pouch as shown in last image
